The Sofa Bench

I made this sofa bench because of our own needs. We grew out of our old sofa and needed a replacement. We visited stores and searched online but had no luck finding a minimalist sofa that does not take too much space.

Inspired by Japanese woodwork and our requirement to reduce the footprint, this sofa bench was born. The sofa is built with mortise and tenon joinery accented by brass dowels for the side and front stretchers to connect to legs. The rear weight bearing beam joins the side stretchers with a cross lap joint. The frame is minimalist thus achieving the goal of having a small footprint.

The cushion thickness and upholstery depend entirely on what one prefers. I will be delighted to discuss how I can meet your requirements. Please feel free to contact me via email.
